Announcing the Above All Fabric Spring Quilt-Along!
Hi, it’s Chris from www.frecklemama.com. I am honored to be the guest-host for Melanie’s Quilt-Along! I promise this will be a wonderful but SIMPLE quilt project using charm squares. We will be using one of Moda’s free patterns and this is a perfect time to invite a friend to sew along with you while learning the basics of quilt-making.
This project actually includes both a picnic quilt and a tote bag designed to carry the quilt and your picnic goodies. It is an adorable pattern and one that I have used for inspiration several times already. You can download the free pattern here.
We will begin the Quilt-Along on Monday, April 11th. With Melanie’s lightning-fast shipping you’ll have time to collect all of your materials. Hop on over to the shop and pick out your goodies. (In the next day or two we will also put up a blog button you can use!)
This is what you’ll need:
1 Charm Pack (I will be using Hullabaloo because it doesn’t get any cuter!)
½ yd Sashing (I will be using Basic Grey Citronella Grunge)
¾ yd Border (I will be using Heather Bailey Swirly Buds Cinnamon)
½ yd Binding (I will be using a drool-worthy Nicey Jane stripe Slim Dandy – Blue)
1 1/3 yd Backing (I’m using Heather Bailey Bijoux Mod Beads in rose)
46×46 or larger batting
That is it for right now! The Bag will come next. (And yardage will be coming soon….along with the belting. You can get the fleece now if you want!) But if you want to get supplies from another collection….here is what you need!
1 1/8 yd Bag Front fabric
1 1/8 yd Bag Lining, Straps & Tie
¾ yd Fusible Fleece
4 yd of 1” wide Cotton Belting
I hope you’re as excited about this as Melanie and I are! It’s a quick, exciting way to celebrate your new favorite collection of pre-cuts this season and complete a quilt by the time the kids get out of school for the summer.
