If you read my initial post about the new Oliver + S pattern releases, you’ll remember I said that the Hide and Seek dress would probably be one of those dresses that I like but would actually love once I saw it made. I found further evidence of that theory … Probably Actually made the dress and it is awesome.

I’m thinking of using the Interweave Chambray from Robert Kaufman in Wisteria .. now to figure out what fabric to highlight in the yoke!

I wonder if mom would let me stay home all next week and just sew? Technically I’d be working on samples for the shop ;)

Yesterday we posted about the Spring 2014 Oliver + S pattern releases which featured a beautiful, frilly dress, the Garden Party Dress. I loved the pattern at first glance but then fell more in love with it when I saw that the ladies of Probably Actually and Skirt as Top did with it.

I love the bold prints paired with the solids .. especially the coral solid. I want to drop all the projects I have going on right now and make this dress!

Both used the Meadow fabrics from Art Gallery. While I absolutely LOVE the prints we got, I wish we had gotten these two prints as well. If we can pre-sell enough of the fabric, I’ll do everything I can to get it in stock. Let me know if you’re interested!

Oliver + S just released three new patterns and we are so excited to have them. The first up is the Garden Party Dress + Blouse, a sweet and springy dress. I love the shirring detail on the front. A perfect party dress for the spring and summer.

Also released is the Hide and Seek Dress + Tunic. I love how the yoke can showcase a favorite fabric. I think this is one of those patterns that I like but then fall in love with once I get it made.

Last but not least is the Lullaby Layette Set which comes in sizes newborn through 24-months. Think really cute onesie made from gorgeous fabrics. They used the Palos Verdes voiles and I can only imagine how soft these are for the baby. What a perfect shower gift!

If you haven’t tried the Oliver + S patterns before, I highly suggest you do. Start with some of the easier ones like the Seashore Sundress or Playtime Tunic. Their patterns are so well written and easy to follow. The small details they include make your garment look so well made and take your sewing skills to the next level.

We have all the patterns in PDF format and will be getting the paper versions next week. Send us an email if you’d like us to hold one for you. I personally love the PDF versions .. instant gratification and can print out only the pieces I need without having to mess with all that tissue.

I can’t believe the month is half over already!  Someone slow it down!!!!  There are at least 2 brand new collections arriving this month that I want to make sure you know about!  I’ll do one today – and maybe one later this week!

City Weekend from Liesl of Oliver + S will arrive this month. It’s available in cottons and select prints are also knits.  Liesl lives in New York City, which obviously influences her great style.  She is also a mom and that means her styles really can be worn by children.  I’m not sure how to approach this – but I think some of us might overlook her designs because they are not flashy and that means they don’t “show” as well online.  I’m not trying to underestimate you guys (or rather, gals!) but I want to make sure you don’t overlook this line!

Her patterns are not fussy and really focus on great design details.  She has designed for well known fashion leaders (like Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger among others) so you know you’re getting high end design when it comes to City Weekend and Oliver + S.  Please have a look at her blog! (what’s that? a link to click on?!?!?) You won’t be disappointed…plus it’ll show you the fabrics in use!  Yay!

The yardage of cottons and knits are to arrive sometime this month – and the newest patterns are in transit to me!  See all the fabrics here (yep…that’s a link…you can click on it!) and sign up to be notified as soon as they arrive!  You definitely won’t want to miss out!
