I'm always drawn to quilts that use a simple block in a new way and this design does just that with a 3D cube block. It also puts a new spin on a standard quilt border. Adding borders only on two sides of this quilt creates a modern offset grid. After the layout was complete the design looked like buildings in a city grid. The play of quilting textures gives the illusion of graph paper and drawing tools. The City Planner quilt is a fun way to experiment with new ways to use traditional quilt top elements.
